A status which has the highest requirements for scientific professionals, this status has more requirements than outstanding professors (EB1-b).

Extraordinary Ability:
The INS regulations, at 8 CFR 204.5(h)(2), define this term as follows:
"Extraordinary ability means a level of expertise indicating that the individual is one of that small percentage who have risen to the very top of the field of endeavor."
Extraordinary Ability Status issues only to the person who have sustained national or international acclaim and that his or her achievements have been recognized in the field of expertise (in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics.)
U.S. Department of Homeland Security Citizenship and Immigration Services formally state: "If a person receive a major internationally recognized award, such as a Nobel Prize, he/she will be qualified for an Extraordinary Ability classification."
